Best Practices in EMBA DEI Recruitment

The latest VSP – Best Practices in EMBA DEI Recruitment – takes place in two parts with Part 1 from 7:30-9 AM Pacific Time on Tuesday, December 6, and Part 2 from 7:30-9 AM Pacific Time on Wednesday, December 7.

Recruitment and admissions professionals are increasingly looking to increase representation and access to their programs – whether by race, gender, ethnic background, industry background, or other criteria.

Where to start? Or how to make even more meaningful change?

Join your peers and two expert guides to explore some of the most promising strategies and tactics to ensure diverse representation in your EMBA Program.  Regardless of where you are on your diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) journey – beginning to move your plans forward or working on recruitment goals for diversity much longer, Best Practices in EMBA DEI Recruitment offers ideas to consider and practices to try.

Throughout the VSP, guides and participants will share their successes. As a result, you will learn DEI best practices in recruiting regarding website content, social media campaigns, events that engage, and partnerships to form.  You also will gain insights on admissions best practices, such the right essay and interview questions to ask and admissions committee training that makes a difference, as well as ways to measure progress and success.

Your expert guides: Randell Hernandez and Arnold Longboy

Two knowledgeable and skilled leaders in EMBA recruitment and admissions will lead the VSP.

Randell Hernandez has 30 years of university admissions experience in both the undergraduate and graduate arenas, currently as director of admissions for the University of Washington (UW) Foster School Executive MBA Program.

In addition to his work in EMBA recruitment and admissions, Hernandez also continues his long-standing involvement with EMBAC. He served on the EMBAC Board of Trustees, co-chaired the 2017 EMBAC Conference in Seattle and volunteered at other conferences, chaired the 2015 USA/Canada Western Regional Meeting, and presented at other USA/Canada Western Regional meetings. Currently he serves on EMBAC’s Branding Committee and Inclusion and Diversity Committee.

Hernandez has a strong passion for promoting DEI initiatives both within EMBAC and UW Foster.

Arnold “Arnie” Longboy, executive director, student recruitment and admissions at London Business School (LBS), provides strategic leadership in the engagement and selection of future LBS alumni for all school degree programs. He also serves as a member of the LBS Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) Advisory Board, which helps shape and implement the school’s DIB strategy, and as past chair of the EMBAC Board of Trustees.

Longboy joined LBS in 2016 as executive director, leadership programs, the EMBA – London & Dubai and EMBA Global & Sloan. His previous work experience in executive development involved building corporate relationships through leadership and management programs for senior executives in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.  He received his B.A from Hamilton College, Ed.M. from Harvard University, and MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

CONFIRMATION: You will receive a confirmation email upon registration. In addition, a few days before the program, you will receive a second email with a web link to the program.

CANCELLATION: Full program fees will be refunded if cancellation is received in writing no later than November 29, 2022. NO REFUNDS will be granted after that time or for “no shows.”
